December fire victims receive humanitarian assistance

The island community continues to assist the 12 families who lost everything in the December 29th fire south of San Pedro Town. On Friday, January 10th, San Pedro Town Council members, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), the Area Representative Honorable Andre Perez, and volunteers delivered humanitarian aid to the victims.

Efforts to assist the twelve families who lost everything in the fire on December 29th are ongoing in San Pedro Town. The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and local groups such as the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye, churches, and the San Pedro Lions Club have been collecting clothing and monetary donations.

San Pedro Lions Club leads fundraising efforts for families displaced by devastating fire

On December 30, 2024, the San Pedro Lions Club quickly organized a full-day fundraiser at the Lions Den in San Pedro Town to support families affected by a devastating fire that occurred the day before. This tragic incident left twelve families homeless after two apartment buildings and a garage on Sea Star Street were destroyed.

San Pedro Lions Club raises over $4K for DFC fire victims

To continue assisting families in the DFC area who lost everything in a fire on November 19th, the San Pedro Lions Club donated over $4,000 to the victims on Wednesday, December 4th. These funds were raised during a barbecue sale and dollar drive held on November 27th at their Den on Barrier Reef Drive.

San Pedro Lions Club delivers funds to fire victims

On Wednesday, July 19th, San Pedro Lions Club presented financial assistance to three families affected by recent fires. The unfortunate incidents occurred during the week of June 19th, leaving victims in San Pedrito, DFC, and San Mateo with their homes destroyed and all belongings lost. The island Lions Club collected food and clothing for the victims as well. Through dollar drives, sales, and assistance from the community, they provided the needed funds to the families affected. With efforts and contributions from individuals across the island, the club raised $5,586.23, distributed among the three affected families totaling 17 individuals.

Four families displaced after fire guts home in Caye Caulker; how you can help

At around 2:22AM on Tuesday, August 10th a wooden structure in Caye Caulker was engulfed in flames, leaving four families homeless. Tropic Air, Caye Caulker Village Council, and the San Pedro Lions Club are collecting donations for the fire victims. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Recovering and rebuilding: Boca del Rio fire victims move on

A total of 22 persons affected were initially housed at San Pedro’s children’s home and community center Hope Haven, where everyone was fed for several days following the fire. As they move forward with their lives, a visit to the fire site at Boca del Rio showed some development on Thursday, August 16th, as new structures are slowly being erected by those who once lived there.

Island residents to hold fundraiser for fire victims
