Over the weekend, on Saturday, July 8th, islanders Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel and Kian Trejo participated in the night road bicycle race dubbed Criterium Cancun 2023 in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Mexican Navy rescues stranded water taxi traveling from San Pedro to Mexico

A water taxi passenger boat experienced difficulties on Wednesday, August 17th, while transporting 69 passengers and three crew members from San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, to the city of Chetumal, Mexico. The boat captain explained that the boat experienced engine failure minutes before arriving. The Mexican Navy assisted them, and none of the passengers and crew were injured in the incident. 

IDB Joins Forces with Mexico to Promote Nearshoring

On July 6th, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced support for plans by the government of Mexico to promote nearshoring, or the relocation of companies closer to end markets, to help foster sustainable development, especially in the country's south-southeastern states.

Fourteenth Annual Border Commanders Meeting

 The aim of the meeting was to create a framework for addressing the security challenges faced by both countries in the border regions. Ranking high on the list of challenges is the issue of narco-trafficking that continues to plague both countries in the different domains.
