MSMEs Gain Relief Under Belize’s New Tax Amnesty

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) officially launched the Fiscal Incentive MSME Business Tax Amnesty Program on September 19th in Belmopan. The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Investment’s Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), the Belize Tax Service (BTS), BELTRAIDE, and the Economic Development Council (EDC), is designed to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) formalize their operations with the BTS.

Belize Investment Summit 2025 Yields Billions in Investment Commitments

First held in November 2021, the Belize Investment Summit was created to attract and promote investment for economic development in Belize. The summit is a high-profile event led by the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance, Investment, and Economic Development. Organised every two years, the 2025 edition, held from September 3 to 5, was themed Bridging Markets, Building Resilience. It concluded as a resounding success, attracting over 600 prominent international investors, business leaders, government officials, and local entrepreneurs. Preliminary estimates indicate investment commitments exceeding BZ$1.5 billion across various sectors.

“Buy Belizean” Campaign launched to promote Local Economic Growth

The Government of Belize, through the Office of the Prime Minister and the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), recently launched a national initiative aimed at boosting local economic activity and supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The "Buy Belizean" campaign and its innovative Loyalty Program Passport were soft-launched on Friday, May 30th, during the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) in Belmopan.

On April 22nd and 23rd, the Blue Bond and Finance Permanence Unit, Office of the Prime Minister, hosted a two-day mission with the Belize Fisheries Department (BFD) to meet with on the ground partners in Southern Belize who are grantees from the conservation funding under the Belize Blue Bonds. On April 22nd, the team met up with the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, who has been instrumental in providing important scientific information for the sustainable use and conservation of sharks in Belize.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Investment, in collaboration with the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), BELTRAIDE and the Economic Development Council, hosted an information-sharing and networking session with companies that are current beneficiaries of the Fiscal Incentives (FI) Program. The session took place at the University of the West Indies Conference Room, Belize City.
