Belize Strengthens Response to High Blood Pressure
The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Executive Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (SE-COMISCA/SICA), launched a nationwide study on October 2, 2025, to evaluate the implementation of the HEARTS Hypertension Clinical Pathway across Belize. Conducted in public primary care facilities, the study aims to assess healthcare provider experiences, identify operational challenges, and explore opportunities to improve hypertension management and the broader response to noncommunicable diseases.

BAHA Receives Assistance for Laboratory Diagnostic Capacity
On July 3rd, 2023, the International Regional Organization for Plant and Animal Health (OIRSA) handed over laptops and printing materials to the Belize Agriculture Health Authority (BAHA) Animal Health Department. The equipment will help to strengthen BAHA’s response capacity in the event the disease is detected in the country.

Dr. Gianni Avila, submitted Belize's instrument of acceptance of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies, making Belize the first Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Central American Integration System (SICA) country to take this significant step towards sustainable fisheries practices at the multilateral level.
