Remembering Jerry Jeff Walker and Camp Belize
Legendary musician Jerry Jeff Walker, a longtime friend of San Pedro passed away on October 23rd. Walker performed on the island for more than 25 years, with fans flocking to the island yearly for Camp Belize. His generosity to the community and memorable concerts will be sorely missed.

Garifuna Settlement Day Celebrations 2020
COVID-19 has brought about unprecedented changes to the way we live, work and interact with each other. As we are quickly approaching the month of November and the anticipation of the cultural extravaganza leading up to the re-enactment of the arrival of the Garinagu to the shores of Belize, National Garifuna Council has made the decision to host virtual activities. The focus of this year’s events will be Garifuna identity, spirituality and perseverance. NGC branches countrywide will be planning and hosting various virtual activities to honor the contributions of past and present Garinagu and to showcase the vibrant Garifuna culture, language, music and dance.

The 222nd anniversary of the Battle of St. George's Caye Day was subdued due to COVID-19, especially on Ambergris Caye. The main official celebrations were streamed online via the Belize National Celebrations Commission.

National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) Welcomes Financial Support from Taiwan for National September Celebrations
The ceremony took place at the Embassy of Taiwan in Belize on September 1, 2020. His Excellency Ambassador Remus Li-Kuo Chen reaffirmed Taiwan’s unwavering bond with the people and Government of Belize and conveyed congratulations on the upcoming 39th Independence Anniversary. He also reiterated that Belize is not alone in the current situation and it has been an honor for Taiwan to have also assisted with the COVID-19 crisis.
