Marco Gonzalez Archeological Site Celebrates Spring Equinox

The event, coordinated by the Board of Directors for the Belizean non-profit Marco Gonzalez Maya Site Ambergris Caye LTD, was complete with a Maya blessing ceremony, costumed individuals, Mestizo dancers, interactive exhibits, refreshments and more.

Musa Chosen to Serve as Member of CARIFESTA’s Interim Festival Directorate

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat has invited Belize's, Mr. Musa Shaheed to serve as a Member of the Interim Festival Directorate (IFD) for CARIFESTA and to attend the Seventeenth Meeting of the IFD, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago on 25th to 26th March.

The San Pedro House of Culture (SPHC), along with the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Belize held a #RefugiARTe Exhibition at the SPHC office on Friday, March 15th.

Island Preschoolers host Art Exhibition in San Pedro Town

As part of Child Stimulation Month activities, island preschoolers organized an art exhibit under this year’s theme: “Hug me, Listen to me, Read with me, Help me Grow!” at the San Pedro House of Culture (SPHC) from Wednesday, March 13th to Thursday, March 14th. Participants included the San Pedro Preschool, ABC Preschool, Isla Bonita Preschool, San Pedro Shining Stars Preschool, Brighter Tomorrow Preschool, Holy Cross Preschool and Little Angel’s Preschool.

SPHC host ‘El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro’ exhibit

The annual display showcases the traditional “El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro (The Great Carnival of San Pedro)” which traditionally takes place three days before Lent.

SPRCS observes Cultural Day 2019!

Throughout the day students represented various cultural groups found in the country, which included the East Indian, Mestizo, Creole, Maya, Garinagu, Mennonites, Chinese and even the Lebanese among others.

National Garifuna Council San Pedro Branch elects new board members

The new elected board members of the local chapter of the NGC include Eden Velasquez as President, Alex Noralez as Vice President, Jhoice Ordonez as Secretary, Shaniel Soriano as Assistant Secretary, Miguel Bulnes as Treasurer, Amancia Martinez as Assistant Treasurer, and Elsy Witty and Celia Bulnes as committee members.
