The biggest annual Halloween celebration in Belize was once again celebrated at the Holiday Hotel in San Pedro Town. Held on Saturday, October 26th, the anticipated party featured islanders dressed in a variety of spectacular and elaborately creative costumes. As every year, attendees competed for fabulous prizes with their craziest, creepiest, elegant, spectacular and most creative outfits.
Shortly after 10PM, participants began arriving via the purple carpet at the Holiday Hotel. They posed for pictures as onlookers admired their costumes. As time passed, the lounge inside the hotel quickly became filled with monsters, witches, wolves, wolverine from X-Men, ghostly beings, super heroes, vampires, pirates, angels and even creepy bunnies.
The popular Adams Family attended the party this year, along with rock bands and even the English band Spice Girls came together to perform at the jamboree.
Other characters that could not miss the biggest and creepiest party of the year included Reggaeton singer Bad Bunny, The Purge, sexy skeletons, environmentally friendly zombies, Cannibals, cunning black angels, and a very curious Dora the Explorer.
Costumed revelers tried to impress the judges tasked to determine the winners of this year’s celebrations. At the end of the night, the most outstanding walked away with great prizes. The music was paused for a bit as the winners were announced.
The first prize went to under the category ‘Lisa’s Favourite’ and it went to Wolverine. The prize included a trip to the Blue Hole for two persons courtesy of Amigos del Mar Dive Shop.
Best Makeup went to ‘The Joker,’ who received two roundtrip tickets to Caye Caulker courtesy of San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi, and $100 gift certificate from Stars Island Fantasy.
The prize for the Cutest outfit of the evening went to the Adams Family. The family walked away with a $50 gift certificate from Quality Poultry Products and another $50 gift certificate courtesy of Casa Pan Dulce Bakery.
The Manager’s favourite was Bad Bunny, who won $100 gift certificate courtesy of Caprice Bar and Grill.
The Cannibal Witch received the prize for the Wildest costume, taking a 24-hour golf cart rental courtesy of Wind Dancer Golf Cart Rental and a $50 gift certificate from Sidelines Island Pub.
The Best Couple Costume prize went to Mr. and Mrs. Dia de los Muertos couple. They won a dinner for two courtesy of El Fogon Restaurant, and $75 gift certificate from Premium Wines.
The winners of the Least Recognizable costume went to los ‘Viejitos,’ winning $200 gift certificate from Castillo’s Hardware and $100 gift certificate courtesy of Wine de Vine.
The Best Group Costume prize was won by The Purge, taking home four cases of Belikin Beer courtesy of Bowen and Bowen Ltd.
The Funniest costume of the evening was identified as the Environmentally Friendly outfit, winning a prize that included lunch for two at Gill-E’s Pour House and a gift basket courtesy of Madisco.
The Sexiest costume was the Silver Glam Alien, who won three months free membership at the Train Station Fitness Club.
The prize to the Most Elegant outfit went to the Centaur, who took home two roundtrip tickets to Belize City courtesy of San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi, and one night stay for two at Cahal Pech Village Resort in San Ignacio, Cayo District.
Breakfast at Tiffany won two Belize international roundtrip tickets courtesy of Tropic Air and two night stay for two at Los Cocos Hotel in Chetumal, Mexico.
Afterwards and to the sound of drumrolls, the top Halloween costume for 2019 was announced. The the Most Creative prize went to Benjamin Vasquez, the ‘Black Angel.’ He won $1,000 cash courtesy of Holiday Hotel.
Organizers thank everyone for making the 2019 Halloween Spectacular another grand success. They invite everyone to start planning their 2020 costumes as it will be bigger and better.
