ACES’ Alexis Lawrence is the top speller of the annual Coca-Cola Spelling Bee Zone 5 Eliminations

After spelling the word ‘inedible’ correctly, Alexis Lawrence of the Ambergris Caye Elementary School (ACES) won the first place at the annual Coca-Cola Spelling Bee Zone 5 eliminations on Thursday, February 21st.

Belize will need 13,000 health and education professionals by 2040

A new IDB study from the series The future of work in Latin America and the Caribbean estimates that Belize will need 9,000 teachers, 1,000 doctors and 2,000 nurses by the year 2040. The study also highlights that jobs in education and health are good quality jobs, especially for women.

Belizean teachers could expand their capacities in United States

For the first time in Belize, largest designated US Department of State Exchange Visitor Program for teachers, Participate, is recruiting teachers from Belize to work in schools in United States for 3 to 5 years and expand their professional capacities in the next school year, beginning in August 2019.
