History serves as an opportunity to travel back in time and explore past events about a settlement, a region, or a country. Belizean history is rich and diverse, highlighting different past events across the country. However, there are many questions about specific chapters of the Belizean society. Have you ever wondered how San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye transformed from a quaint fishing village to the prime tourism destination it is today? The answer to clear such curiosity is by visiting the recently opened San Pedro Tourism Information Center on Angel Coral Street across from the Saca Chispas field, where you can find the book ‘San Pedro History of Tourism.’ This unique and well-documented history of the island was penned by well-known islander Guillermo ‘Mito’ Paz, and it can be yours for just BZ$30.

On the eve of the traditional ‘El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro,’ a photography exhibition was held at the San Pedro House of Culture (SPHC) on Friday, February 21st.

On Wednesday, July 31st, Mayor Daniel Guerrero received a visit from Werner Graf and his daughter Angelina Graf to discuss a proposal of a Sister City relationship between San Pedro Town and Sea Isle City, New Jersey, USA. The Grafs came on behalf of the City Council of Sea Isle City and presented Guerrero with the keys to the city, which bears the name of Mayor Leonard Desiderio.

Under the theme: “Hug me, Listen to me, Read with me, Help me Grow!” the show saw a large crowd of residents enjoying the wonderful talents of the many preschoolers on the island

The annual display showcases the traditional “El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro (The Great Carnival of San Pedro)” which traditionally takes place three days before Lent.

The Boca del Rio Area of San Pedro Town came alive on Sunday, April 22nd with the first-ever Festival of Cultures took place on the beach.

The exhibition is an annual display that showcases the traditional "El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro (The Great Carnival of San Pedro)” which took place from Saturday, February 10th to Wednesday, February 14th.

Island Catholics joined the celebration of Dia de la Cruz, on Wednesday, May 3rd at the San Pedro House of Culture.
