Bloom with Love: San Pedro Dance Academy hosts Mother’s Day Recital
On Saturday, May 3rd, the San Pedro Dance Academy (SPDA) hosted its annual Mother’s Day recital, "Bloom with Love." As May arrives, it brings a sense of love and appreciation for mothers, with various events taking place across the island. The special dance showcase, which celebrated mothers, love, and family, was held at the Lions Den.

San Pedro observes its annual Earth Hour with a fun night at the park
Every year, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) advocates for a safer planet and raises awareness about the importance of responsible citizenship through its annual educational event, Earth Hour. This year, the event was held on Saturday, March 22nd, at Boca del Rio Beach Park and featured fun activities, including a bonfire, s'mores, and an Earth Hour-themed glow stick choreography competition.

Carnaval in San Pedro Town is a vibrant and unique celebration held before Lent. Known for its colorful street parties and lively music, a distinctive tradition of Carnaval is painting one another, a hallmark of the festivities. Before the official celebration begins, the Reina del Carnaval Pageant is held to crown a queen who embodies the spirit of Carnaval. This year, the pageant occurred on Thursday, February 27th, starting at 8 PM at the San Pedro Lions Den.

San Pedro celebrates Belize’s 43rd Independence Day in grand style
Belizeans in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, once again showed their patriotism and love for the country as they celebrated Belize’s 43rd independence anniversary. The festivities began on the evening of Friday, September 20th, with the flag-raising ceremony, culminating with the Independence Day Parade on the 21st, highlighting all things Belizean and closing the patriotic celebration across the country. Under the theme ‘A Nation Proud and Free: Belize @ 43!’, Belizeans have been observing the September celebrations, from the flag-raising at the start of the month to the Battle of St. George’s Caye Day and the annual Carnival Road March in Belize City, among other patriotic events.

San Pedro students display patriotism at annual Children’s Rally
Students from six primary schools joined San Pedro High School (SPHS) on Friday, September 20th, to celebrate the annual Children’s Rally at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. The Children’s Rally is held countrywide as part of the September Celebrations to promote patriotism among Belizean children. This year's theme was “A Nation Proud and Free: Belize at 43.” The event included motivational speeches, patriotic poems and dramas, and a special performance by Chelsy Castro, the national KTV (Karaoke) Singing Competition winner.
