Islander Jesus’ Levi’ Contreras excels at Father of the Nation race
San Pedro, Ambergris Caye is a town of many talents, one of which is its vibrant sports community. Several champions have represented the island well beyond its shores. On Monday, January 15th, Jesus' Levi' Contreras, also known as the 'Yellow Flash of Belize,' put the island name high again after shining at the Father of the Nation run.

George Price Day observed in Belize; exhibit in his honor launched in Orange Walk
On Monday, January 15th, Belize observed George Price Day, honoring the life of the nation’s first Prime Minister. On this day, the Father of Belizean Independence would have turned 105 years old, and ceremonies were held in Orange Walk Town to celebrate the public and bank holiday. The special event included launching the “Let Belize Live: Speeches of the Premier Exhibit” at the Banquitas House of Culture.

National Service Day observed in San Pedro
On Tuesday, September 19th, Belize observed National Service Day and the 12th anniversary of the passing of the Father of the Nation, the late Right Honourable George Cadle Price. In San Pedro Town, different groups in the community paid tribute to the day and the founder of the country’s independence. The San Pedro Town Council, the office of Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez, and the San Pedro Lions Club held different activities honoring several community members.

National Heroes RT. Hon. George Price and Hon. Philip Goldson to be featured on new Belize dollar notes
The Belize dollar bills will soon bear new images, and it will not be King Charles III of the United Kingdom (UK), the country’s new head of state, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. While the face of the late queen graces the Belizean currency notes, the images as per the Government of Belize (GOB) for the upcoming new batch will include that of national heroes, the late Right Honourable and Father of Belize’s Independence George Cadle Price and the Father of Democracy, the late Honourable Philip Goldson.

National Service Day honors the late Rt. Hon. George Price and Queen Elizabeth II
The National Service Day this year on Monday, September 19th commemorating the 11th anniversary of the passing of the Father of the Nation, the late Right Honourable George Cadle Price, was also a holiday to honor Queen Elizabeth II’s death. That same day she was being buried in London, England, and Belize’s Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, attended on behalf of the country to pay our respects to the former Head of State. The day was celebrated with civic activities in places like San Pedro Town, while a Wreath Laying ceremony took place in Belize City at Price’s resting place.

San Pedro Town honors the late RT. Hon. George Price
On Sunday, September 19th, Belize observed National Service Day and the 10th anniversary of the passing of the Father of the Nation, the late Right Honourable George Cadle Price. San Pedro Town joined the national event, and Mayor Gualberto 'Wally' Nuñez and his Councillors, along with the island's beauty ambassador Miss San Pedro Grace Brown, held a memorial ceremony to honor the Belizean hero. The ceremony in San Pedro included prayers, speeches, and tossing handfuls of flower petals into the sea.

National Heroes and Benefactors Day Wreath Laying Ceremony
On the bright and breezy morning of Monday, 11th March 2019, a dedicated gathering was on hand to be a part of the viewing audience of the ceremonial laying of wreaths in recognition of Belize's National Heroes and most revered financial benefactor.
