Fourth Annual Kentucky Derby benefit for Saga Humane Society breaks fundraising record
The world-renowned horse race, the Kentucky Derby, was the theme for the fourth annual benefit for Saga Humane Society on Saturday, May 3rd. Hosted by Kristen Newton, owner of Someplace South CafeBar, where the anticipated event was held, the occasion was manned by numerous Saga volunteers and featured a diverse selection of silent auction items, raffle prizes, and entertaining competitions.

Free Microchipping Clinic held at SAGA Humane Society
On April 30th, the Saga Humane Society in San Pedro partnered with the Ranger Warriors Foundation to hold a free microchipping and vaccination clinic for dogs and cats. The event aimed to help pet owners protect their animals by implanting microchips linked to a registry, making it easier to reunite lost or stolen pets with their families.

Saga and Volunteers achieve 101 Spay and Neuter Campaign
On March 10th, the Saga Humane Society in San Pedro Town launched a week-long free Spay and Neuter Clinic with the goal of performing at least 150 surgeries. The purpose is to reduce the number of homeless animals on the island and promote a more humane community.

The new shelter on Seagrape Drive allows for improved medical care and larger animal spaces. This development is part of a long-term vision to create an animal clinic and education center on Ambergris Caye, which addresses ongoing issues of unwanted pets and animal neglect.

Pet tagging initiative planned for San Pedro, Ambergris Caye
A campaign is underway to microchip all dogs and cats, whether they are pets or strays, in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. The initiative, called Ranger Warriors, is organized in collaboration with the San Pedro Saga Humane Society and San Pedro Animal Hospital. This project aims to provide free microchipping for pets and to establish scanning stations across the island to scan the microchips of animals in their respective areas. Additionally, this initiative will help in locating missing pets in San Pedro.

SAGA’s Spooktacular entertains while raising funds at annual Halloween event
During a weekend of rainy weather, the clouds parted, and the sun shined during the 19th yearly Saga Spooktacular Fund Raiser. Held on Sunday afternoon, October 27th, at the beachside Caribbean Villas Beach Bar, pets and partners adorned in creative costumes and a crowd of supporters enjoyed an entertaining afternoon of Halloween fun.

Constance ‘Connee’ Jo Cantrill Obituary
Connee was one of a kind who loved life and was a social butterfly with a warm heart and never knew a stranger! She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes only to then share them with friends, especially at the holiday’s when she enjoyed decorating for Christmas both at home and at her second home in Belize.
