Triple R Emergency Response Team to the rescue!

The Rickilee Response and Rescue Team (Triple R) continues to respond to emergency calls on Ambergris Caye, assisting accident victims throughout the island. The most recent cases involved a near drowning and two traffic accidents.

Investigation continues into fatal passenger boat explosion

The Belize Port Authority continues to investigate an explosion that occurred on Sunday, May 5th on a boat docked at the Ocean Ferry Water Taxi Boat Terminal in Belize City. A gas leak has been reported to be the cause of the tragic incident which occurred when the boat captain throttled the engine.

American tourist dies while snorkeling off the coast of Ambergris Caye

Around 10:20AM, Peterson had been snorkeling with other family members at Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve when she reportedly passed out. Despite being immediately assisted by their tour guide, Rickilee Response and Rescue team (RRR) had to be called for assistance to transport her to Ambergris Hopes Clinic, where Dr. Daniel Gonzalez also tried to resuscitate her. Unfortunately, their efforts were futile.

Police looking for driver of hit and run traffic accident

San Pedro Police are looking for the driver responsible for crashing into a six-seat golf cart parked in front of Trust Hardware on Coconut Drive.

Accused of running over a jaguar, Belizean pilot Efrain Guerrero released from detention in Mexico

Islander and pilot Efrain Guerrero has been released from a Chetumal City jail in Quintana Roo, Mexico. On Monday, April 15th, he was accused of ‘poaching’, after he allegedly hit a jaguar with his vehicle while driving with his family from Cancun.

Island mechanic dies in fatal motorcycle accident

28-year-old Samuel Pasqual, a mechanic from San Pedro Town died early this morning April 4th, in a motorcycle accident on Seagrape Drive. Pasqual suffered severe head injuries after colliding with a cement pillar on the right hand side of the road.

Maya Island Air airplane experiences a flat tire upon landing at Corozal airport

On Wednesday, February 6th, a Maya Island Air Cessna plane reportedly experienced a flat tire while taxiing on the Corozal Municipal Airport in Corozal Town. According to reports from the airline, ground personnel pushed the aircraft off the runway by hand to avoid obstructing the airstrip.
