Island Teachers and Nurses honored and celebrated

The yearly event is hosted by The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) along with Area Representative and Minister of Tourism and Civic Aviation Hon Manuel Heredia Jr and it is meant to show appreciation towards all teachers and nurses for the excellent job they do on the island.

Caye Caulker’s Ocean Academy students win 2019 MOE Youth Innovative Challenge

OA’s students Preston Smith, Lupita Aldana, Daniela Novelo, Alejandro Arias-Perez, and Vincent Sotz, along with their mentor Janel Cayetano, competed against 14 other high schools from around the country at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex, placing first at the end of the competition with their financial literacy mobile application.

Camrin Rhaburn wins 14th Annual Reef Fest Trivia Competition

The competition was held at the Lions Den in San Pedro Town on Tuesday, May 14th. San Pedro Roman Catholic School student Camrin Rhaburn proved that she had the most knowledge of the marine ecosystem, taking the coveted first place title.

Primary School students sit second part of 2019 PSE

According to the Ministry of Education, the PSE serves two main purposes: to certify students upon the completion of their primary schooling in four content areas of the curriculum (Math, Science, English and Social Studies); and for educational decision-making to inform policy, planning, and practice at national, district, school and classroom levels.

Digi Belize and MOE launch Digital Education Project at SPHS

32 (first form) students and 11 teachers from San Pedro High School received free laptops as part of a new pilot Digital Education Project being done by MOE, Digi Belize and Microsoft.

Island students sit first part of the 2019 PSE

Standard Six students of both Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker joined thousands of students countrywide as they sat the first of the National Primary School Examination (PSE) on Monday, April 8th. The annual examination was held at the San Pedro High School and tested students in English and Science.

Little Free Library installed in San Pedro Town

Little Free Libraries are small wooden boxes set up in public spaces used to encourage children to read and share their favorite books with their community. It operates under the honor system that you take a book, and you leave a book, this way the content of the boxes is constantly changing.

SPHS celebrates Science Fair 2019!

The school’s auditorium was filled with several project booths that focused on this year’s theme: “Reinventing the future by reducing, reusing and recycling.”
