Young Models Celebrate Culture and Fashion at Empow.Her’s Third Annual Show
On July 6th, at the Watermark Hotel, a group of young ladies took to the stage for their graduation fashion show after completing a two-week modeling program. The event was led by former Miss San Pedro, Mariel Calderon, in collaboration with Vale Cervera Model Training (VCMT) from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Titled “Heirlooms of Belize,” the fashion show celebrated culture and heritage through fashion, with each outfit telling its story. The island girls proudly modeled designs from several creators, including well-known Mexican designer Alberto Aguilar. Now in its third year, the show is part of Empow.Her is a non-profit organization founded by Calderon.

2nd annual modeling program concludes with “Jungle Treasures” fashion show
On August 4, 2024, an impressive fashion show called 'Jungle Treasures' was held at the Cast Away Beach Resort to mark the culmination of a unique modeling program. The event celebrated a group of island women who, through their participation in the modeling program, not only boosted their self-esteem but also gained confidence and a sense of empowerment. Organized by former Miss San Pedro, Mariel Calderon, founder of Empower.Her, Manuel Flores Junior, and Vale Cervera, owner of Vale Cervera Model Training (VCMT) from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, this is the second year the program has been conducted.

Sports Illustrated (SI) Magazine unveiled on Thursday, February 8th, sports team owner Brittany Mahomes as its newest member of their swimsuit family. The well-known magazine recently hosted a photo shoot in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, for their 2024 Swimsuit issue featuring Mahomes. The 28-year-old former college and pro soccer player will debut in the SI Swimsuit publication as a rookie for the magazine's upcoming May issue.
