The roll-out of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine for COVID-19 continues in San Pedro Town. The medical team at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II has created an online form where islanders can register. The form is for residents of San Pedro only can be accessed by clicking https://bit.ly/3bHObe9
Initially, the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) required people to call the ministry to register. That method, however, was not adequate due to the lack of staffing; thus, a more efficient mechanism was developed to monitor the registrations.
When a person registers via the form, the medical staff contacts them to arrange a time and day to get vaccinated. Those registering for the vaccine are asked to be attentive to their telephones so as not to miss an appointment.
After taking the vaccine, people are advised to continue practicing the safety measures such as mask-wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. A second dose of the vaccine will be required around the month of May if administered in March.
As of press time, over 40 have been vaccinated on the island. One of the aims of MOHW is to vaccinate up to 100 persons per day by appointment to get through the different phases of the vaccine roll out as illustrated in the image below.
