Each election year The San Pedro Sun believes that the community should have the opportunity to learn about the candidates who are running for office. The San Pedro Sun received the requested answers (and photos) from the PUP slate on the deadline day. Despite several calls, emails and even a personal visit to the San Pedro Town Council to obtain the requested information from the UDP slate, none was forthcoming. However, in a forum intended to provide equal coverage to both parties, would it be fair to give one party the time to respond IF and WHEN they decide, while the other party met the deadline? Imagine if the tables had been turned?

Meet your 2018 Municipal Elections Mayoral Candidates

With the municipal elections right around the corner, The San Pedro Sun takes the opportunity to present the Mayoral Candidates to the San Pedro Town public. As such, questions have been issued to all candidates in an effort to learn more about them. The San Pedro Sun invited both the UDP and PUP candidates to respond to the following questions. The UDP candidate, Daniel Guerrero, declined to participate.

Voter Registration ends January 10th; Municipal Elections draw near

GOB says NO to paying Belize Bank $90 Million CCJ loan judgment for UHS

The Government of Belize will simply NOT pay the $90 Million judgement awarded by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) to the Belize Bank, for a $35 Million loan borrowed by Universal Health Services Ltd, which the past PUP administration of former Prime Minister Said Musa had secretly guaranteed in 2004.
