San Pedro Pirates crushes Wagiya in first game of PBL Closing Season

The San Pedro Pirates kicked off the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season with an impressive 4-1 victory over Team Wagiya, hailing from southern Belize. This match and others across the country marked the beginning of the new PLB season on Saturday, January 18th, at Ambergris Stadium.

Sharks FC are the Island League Champions

The Island League Football Tournament crowned a new champion at the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday, January 11th. The final match of the local tournament had both teams and their fans on edge, as the regulation 90 minutes were not enough to determine a winner. It took an additional 30 minutes of overtime and penalty kicks for Sharks FC to secure a hard-fought victory over Sea Bulls FC.

Newly renovated basketball court opens at Boca del Rio Beach Park

The basketball court at Boca del Rio Beach Park has been fully renovated, thanks to a partnership between Will Mitchell, RE/MAX Belize Real Estate, and the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC). This project has provided the island's sporting community with a brand-new basketball court, complete with new rims and bleachers, creating a safe and engaging environment for the island's youth.

San Pedro High School girls’ basketball team crowned 2024 NSSSA champions

The female basketball team of San Pedro High School (SPHS) has won the national basketball championship organized by the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA). The school administration is celebrating this achievement, as it marks the third national championship title for the San Pedro girls. They first became national champions in 2017 and won again in 2019.

San Pedro’s Jesus ‘Levi’ Contreras finishes second in Placencia’s End of the World half-marathon

Islander Jesus ‘Levi’ Contreras, the Yellow Flash of Belize, returned to Placencia, southern Belize, to defend his title at this year’s annual Placencia End of the World Marathon, which was held on Sunday, December 8th. Representing his island home with Team Splash, Contreras completed the half-marathon portion of the race in second place, with an official time of 01:14:14. George Choc followed him with a time of 01:25:17. At the same time, Albert Davis claimed first place in the half-marathon with an official clock time of 01:13:38.
