In a friendly football match held on Wednesday, March 8th, at the Ambergris Stadium, the San Pedro female team, Isla Bonita United Ballers, fell short against the visiting team from Motlow State Community College from Tennessee, United States. The island girls defended their home turf well and made the visiting team work hard for their slim 2-1 victory.

San Pedro Pirates return home winless after playing against Progresso FC

The island’s senior football team, the San Pedro Pirates, travelled to Orange Walk Town on Sunday, March 5th, determined to net at least three points with a victory over Progresso Football Club. But after 90+ minutes on the pitch, the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

San Pedro Junior College wins the 2023 ATLIB Softball Nationals

The San Pedro Junior College (SPJC) is in a celebratory mood after claiming the top place at the Association of Tertiary Level Institution of Belize (ATLIB) softball nationals played on Saturday, February 25th, in Independence Village, Stann Creek District, southern Belize. The SPJC’s co-ed team previously won the central regional championship in northern Belize by defeating Wesley Junior College 9-2. This win secured them a ticket to compete for the national title in Independence against the best teams nationwide. The teams competing included Centro Escolar Mexico Junior College (CEMJC), University of Belize (UB), and Independence Junior College (IJC).

501 Fight Night II: The Rising lands another unforgettable MMA event

The weekend was busy in San Pedro Town, with several events on Saturday. One of these was the second edition of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) 501 Fight Night II: The Rising held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. The event elated MMA fans, with several fights culminating with a match in which San Pedro’s Bryce Peterson emerged victorious.

Strongest Woman in Belize: Mary Gonzalez wins big at the Belize Powerlifting Championship 2023

Islander Mary Gonzalez returned to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye as Champion after an excellent performance that landed her first place in the 3rd Annual National Powerlifting Competition. Held at the St. John’s College Junior College Gymnasium in Belize City over the weekend (February 25-26), the event was organized by the Belize Powerlifting Association. Another islander currently residing in Belmopan, Edith Ruiz, also won big, placing second overall, and took gold in her 57kg weight class.

Benque Viejo United almost nets win against San Pedro Pirates

On Saturday, February 25th, the San Pedro Pirates almost lost against visiting team Benque Viejo United. The San Pedro fans flocking to the Ambergris Stadium sighed in relief at the end of the game when the island boys managed to pull off a 1-1 draw.

MMA 501 Fight Night II: The Rising takes place tomorrow in San Pedro

On Thursday, February 23rd, a press conference occurred at the Sandbar Beachfront Hostel and Restaurant to formally present the second edition of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament on the island- 501 Fight Night II, now dubbed “The Rising.” The event is on Saturday, February 25th, at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. Access to the venue starts at 6PM.

San Pedro Pirates fall short against Port Layola in home game

After leading the standings in the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season, the San Pedro Pirates relinquished that position following their 1-0 defeat against Port Layola on Saturday, February 18th, at the Ambergris Stadium.
