Belize’s Senior Female Football National Team falls 6-0 against El Salvador
The senior female national football team lost 6-0 against El Salvador on Wednesday, February 16th, in their first match of the Women's World Cup Qualifiers. The game took place in San Salvador, El Salvador, where Team Belize will remain until Sunday, February 20th, when they play their second game against Panama.

Three island athletes travel to El Salvador to play with the women’s National Football Team
Three female footballers from San Pedro Town, Dennisa Mairena Pineda, Tammy Baptist, and Tanya Teul, are part of the ‘Lady Jaguars,’ Belize’s senior national football team. They will be competing at the Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football known as CONCACAF.

San Pedro’s female U-20 football team advances to FFB’s National Youth Championship semi-finals
The U-20 San Pedro Elite female football team has qualified for the Football Federation of Belize's National Elite Youth Championship semi-finals. The girls' island team is leading their group with eight points, followed by Orange Walk Elite with seven points and Belize Elite with six points in third place. The other teams representing the island were the male teams U-17 and U-20. Unfortunately, they did not make it to the semi-finals this time.

San Pedro Pirates starts FFB Top League with a win
The Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) Top League Closing Season 2022 is officially underway, and on Sunday, February 6th, the San Pedro Pirates Football Club began their season with a 1-0 victory over Caesar Ridge. The game took place at the FFB Stadium in the Capital City of Belmopan. San Pedro Pirates will be facing Verdes on February 26th at the Ambergris Stadium at 6:30PM. Only a limited number of fans will be allowed to enter the stadium.

San Pedro’s “Mighty Mouse” makes a comeback at MMA event in Orange Walk
With contact sports now being allowed and 50% of fans attending, events like Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) have started to occur across the country. The recent event in Orange Walk Town saw fighters from San Pedro Town out of Martin Dawson’s Pit Fighters training school representing the island. One of these fighters was Juan’ Mighty Mouse’ Hernandez, who made an incredible comeback to the octagon with a solid win.

50% of fans attendance now allowed at sporting events; fans must be vaccinated
After months of sporting events with no fans allowed due to COVID-19 regulations, the National Sports Council of Belize (NSC) has released updated guidelines for fan attendance at all sporting events. These include allowing spectators to attend games.

Island teams play their first round in the FFB’s National Elite Youth Championship
The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) welcomed George Price Day on Saturday, January 15th, beginning the National Elite Youth Championship country-wide. The tournament with teams in the U-20 and U-17 divisions saw plenty of action in San Pedro Town, with the island teams marking one victory, one draw, and one loss.

San Pedro Pirates F.C. prepares for FFB Top League’s closing season
The island’s football club, the San Pedro Pirates, is gearing up for the closing season of the Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) tournament- FFB Top League set to start February 5, 2022. The island’s squad is scheduled to play against Caesar Ridge F.C. on February 6th at the Beaton Isidoro Stadium in the capital city of Belmopan. Due to the pandemic, the tournament will host all games in Belmopan with six participating teams- San Pedro Pirates FC, Altitude FC, Caesar Ridge FC, Garden City FC, Verdes FC, and Wagiya SC.
