Three island football teams prepare for National Elite Youth Championship
On Saturday, January 15th, the Football Federation of Belize will start its National Elite Youth Championship. The football tournament will include male and female teams in the Under-17 and Under-20 divisions. San Pedro Town will be represented with a female and male team in the U-20 division and one male squad in the U-17 category.

FFB’s Iris Centeno travels to Spain for FIFA Coach Education Course
Another Belizean woman continues to excel in the football world. On Friday, January 7th, Director of Women's Football at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), Iris Centeno, left the country to pursue her Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) 'C' License Coaching course in Valencia, Spain.

San Pedro kids invited to participate in grassroots football project; tournament for adults starts next week
Starting Saturday, January 8th, island children interested in football will have the opportunity to learn more about the sport with an initiative to establish a football academy in San Pedro Town. The project, headed by Councilor Jose Castellanos, invites children between the ages of six and 12 to participate in the sporting activities at the Ambergris Stadium from 9-11:30AM every Saturday. There is no charge to participate and interested parties can contact Castellanos at 627-3795. The councilor also announced a football tournament for adults beginning on Thursday, January 13th.

FFB’s Yashmin Juan is first female to complete a FIFA CIES degree
The first Belizean female to hold a FIFA CIES (International Centre for Sports Studies) Post Graduate Degree is Marketing and Communications Director at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), Yashmin Juan. She completed the executive program in sports management via the University of the West Indies.

FFB Top League awards San Pedro Pirates’ Asrel Sutherland with Best Defender trophy
San Pedro’s well-known footballer Asrel Sutherland was recognized as the Best Defender of the open season of the national football tournament Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Top League. Sutherland, who plays for San Pedro Pirates F.C., received the award after the closing game on Sunday, December 19th, in the capital city of Belmopan.

Martin Dawson named director in Belize for Mexican Kickboxing Association and presents title belt to be disputed in 2022 match
On Monday, December 20th, island mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and instructor, Martin Dawson, was officially named the representative of Teyaochihuani in Belize, an independent association of kickboxing and self-defence based in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Dawson was visited by Teyaochihuani’s president and Mexico’s national director of kickboxing Ernesto Hernandez. Both are currently working on hosting at least two kickboxing events in Belize next year, with a title match that will see a Belizean champion representing the country at an international fight in Veracruz in July of 2022.

San Pedro Pirates football female team represents well at NAWL
The San Pedro Pirates football female team gave their best performance at this year's National Amateur Women League (NAWL) open season tournament, qualifying for the first time to the semi-finals. Although their participation showed how prepared the team was, they fell short and did not advance to the tournament's final round. However, the San Pedro community is proud of the team and wishes them the best when they can represent the island in the NAWL's closing season in 2022.

San Pedro Pirates female team beats Cayo Dreamers 4-0
The 2021 National Amateur Women's League (NAWL) Football tournament has begun its opening season. On Saturday, November 20th, the San Pedro Pirates female team claimed their first victory after defeating Cayo Dreamers 4-0.
