SPHS remembers the late Maestro Angel Nuñez
On Friday, January 13th, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) held a special memorial to honor the late Rafael Angel Nuñez. A past teacher and principal at the island’s high school, Maestro Nuñez was also one of the school founders, who, along with other island pioneers, helped to bring secondary education to the island in 1971. The beloved San Pedrano was remembered with speeches and songs.

National Garifuna Council San Pedro Branch elects new board members
The new elected board members of the local chapter of the NGC include Eden Velasquez as President, Alex Noralez as Vice President, Jhoice Ordonez as Secretary, Shaniel Soriano as Assistant Secretary, Miguel Bulnes as Treasurer, Amancia Martinez as Assistant Treasurer, and Elsy Witty and Celia Bulnes as committee members.

San Pedro Pirates F.C introduces new board of directors
The new PLB Season begins August 2018, and the San Pedro Pirates FC is looking forward to a more disciplined season, with a new board of directors. Taking over as head coach is Renan Couoh, and his assistant coaches are Hugo Pineda and Alex Noralez, while Omar Moreno is equipment manager.

Under the theme ‘Risiti, Pantati, Gabafuti, Funrahova, meme la (English: Rich, proud, and powerful, let us continue to preserve it) the local branch of the National Garifuna Council (NGC) San Pedro branch held several activities ranging from cultural presentations and drumming, to the re-enactment of the arrival of the Garifuna people to Belize.
