On Saturday, April 20th, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Cage Grappling Match was held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, doors opened at 7PM with spectators filling the auditorium. The event elated MMA fans, with several fights culminating in a match in which Jevon Rubio emerged victorious.

Boxing night in San Pedro features Belizean and Mexican fighters

The Angel Nuñez Auditorium at the San Pedro High School was the venue of an electrifying boxing event on Saturday, April 13th, featuring three big fights. Dubbed ‘Clash at the Beach,’ the main event of the evening was the fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Latin American Atomweight championship between female boxers. Other boxing titles up for grabs included the Lightweight and Featherweight championships.

The San Pedro Volleyball Association has been hosting an indoor volleyball tournament with the San Pedro Town Council Sport for the past few weeks. The tournament is held on weekends at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, and the sixth week of games was played on Sunday, March 10th.

On Friday, September 15th, students across Belize participated in the annual Children's Rally. In San Pedro Town, the patriotic event, part of the September Celebrations, the San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) students participate in a colorful parade through the main streets. The San Pedro High School (SPHS) student body and upper-division students from other schools across the island enjoyed activities at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium.

Assessment of SPHS main building deems it safe; repairs on certain sections needed

At a meeting held on Thursday, August 31st, at the Angel Nunez Auditorium, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) management provided parents with an update on the structural damages affecting their main building. As per the report provided by Principal Emil Vasquez and the structural engineers, most of the building is in good condition except for three sections needing immediate repairs. These include the staff room, where the ceiling collapsed, and the computer and science lab. As further evaluations are made and plans to raise funds to complete all repairs begin, students will attend the Hon. Manuel Heredia Hall for most classes via a shifting system.

SPHS honors senior students at their 2023 graduation ceremony

On Saturday, June 10th, the 2023 San Pedro High School (SPHS) graduating class celebrated their high school commencement exercises at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. The graduation program included presentations, inspirational speeches, and the distribution of diplomas. The celebration began at 10AM, presided by Mistresses of ceremonies, and fellow graduates, Stacey Campos and Caden Delgado. Attended by proud parents and friends, the anticipated event lasted for over two hours, highlighting the accomplishments of 113 students, who were honored with various certificates of recognition and high school diplomas.
