BWS holds presentation on a water expansion project for south San Pedro

Belize Water Services (BWS) continues working hard on several infrastructural projects across San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, to upgrade potable water delivery. The company’s next project includes expanding water networks in prioritized service areas south of town. This includes Eiley/Marina Drive, DFC, and San Marcos subdivisions. To introduce the proposed project, on Friday, December 16th, BWS personnel were in the Marina Drive neighborhood conducting a consultation with residents of that area.

BWS asks customers complaining of unusually high bills to visit their office

Residents in San Pedro Town were expecting low water bills for the month of March after the island experienced low water pressure and shortages due to mechanical malfunctions at the water plant for most of March. Some islanders are now reporting their water bills is higher than usual and Belize Water Services (BWS) invites concerned customers to visit their office.

BWS says water supply for San Pedro is fully restored

The issues of low water pressure and shortages plaguing San Pedranos for the past weeks have reportedly ended after Belize Water Services (BWS) stated on Monday, March 28th, that supplies have been fully restored. BWS had been scheduling interruptions and low water pressure because of a mechanical malfunction in their plant on the island. The problem was resolved with the faulty plant gear repaired, and since then, the service has been returned to normal.

Low water pressure and interruptions in San Pedro continues

The issue of low water pressure and water interruptions continues in San Pedro Town, and according to the Belize Water Services (BWS), it is all due to emergency plant maintenance. While this has been the case for weeks now, the problem may continue well into next week or until the water company can remedy the situation.

World Water Day 2021 

Today, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining, and Petroleum, in conjunction with various local water partners, is celebrating World Water Day.  World Water Day, which celebrates the vital importance of freshwater, was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating March 22, 1993, as the first World Water Day.  

BWS advises on service disconnection

Belize Water Services (BWS) advises its customers with arrears to visit their offices to make payment arrangements and avoid disconnection. The water company posted a notice on Tuesday, January 12th stating that customers with three months or more in arrears in the Belize District could face disconnection for non-payment on their accounts.

DOE announces new sewage treatment system for Ambergris Caye

In an effort to diminish the threat of any negative environmental impact on Ambergris Caye, the Department of the Environment (DOE) has issued an advisory to all new commercial and tourism developments on north and south Ambergris Caye, to invest in a proper sewage treatment system.
