From San Pedro With Love: Islanders Called to Give

The 2025 World Blood Donor Day (WDD) slogan is "Give blood, give hope: together we save lives". This message emphasizes the impact of voluntary blood donors on saving lives, and encourages both new and existing donors to give every three months. In honor of World Blood Donor Day (June 14th), Island Donors Squad (IDS) will host their next blood drive at Ambergris Hope Hospital (AHH).

Caribbean Sprinter Connects Communities

Recognizing the life-saving impact of voluntary blood donors, Caribbean Sprinter continues to support this important country wide community effort in Belize. Over the past two years, Caribbean Sprinter and Island Donors Squad (IDS) have partnered to support the country by organizing chaperoned blood donation trips from Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker to Belize City.

Letter to the Editor: Special Thanks for a Successful May 3rd Blood Drive

The San Pedro Community Blood Drive Group wishes to thank all those who came to donate blood at the blood drive held May 3rd at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II. Over 50 members of the Ambergris Caye community came to donate. At the end of the day, 41 pints of life-saving blood were generously donated.

Island Donors Squad starts the month of March with a blood drive

On Saturday, March 1st, a blood drive organized by the Island Donors Squad (IDS) in collaboration with the Ambergris Hope Hospital and volunteers from the Washington University of Health and Science (WUHS) collected approximately 11 pints of blood.

Island Donors Squad (IDS) and Ambergris Hope Hospital (AHH) are calling on islanders to donate blood at their upcoming blood drive on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Ambergris Hope Hospital from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. All blood types are needed.

Letter to the Editor: Many Thanks for September 14th Blood Drive

The San Pedro Community Blood Drive Group wishes to thank all those who came to donate blood on September 14. Members of the Ambergris Caye community generously donated 6 pints of blood, which can can potentially save the lives of up to 18 persons. We especially want to thank the following sponsors who made this blood drive possible.

Island Donors Squad collects over two dozen pints of blood

A total of 27 pints of blood were collected during the blood drive organized by the Island Donors Squad (IDS) on October 5th. The drive occurred at the Ambergris Hope Hospital and involved IDS volunteers, including Washington University of Health and Science (WUHS) students. The volunteers also checked health vitals and conducted a dollar drive.

Community Blood Drive records low turnout

The San Pedro community has always been known for its unity and support for worthy causes. This includes organizing blood drives to assist those in need during emergencies. The recent blood drive, held by the San Pedro Community Blood Drive Group at the San Pedro Resource Center on Saturday, September 14th, recorded a low turnout. Despite the aim to welcome as many donors as possible, only five pints of blood were collected, highlighting the urgent need for more community participation.
