Sea Bulls FC crowned back-to-back Island League champions

For the third consecutive year, Sea Bulls FC has won the championship title of the Island Football League 2026 season. The championship match was played on May 16th at the Ambergris Stadium between Sea Bulls FC and Joker FC. The highly anticipated final delivered another memorable football showdown, with plenty of action, before heading into extra time and ending in a 2-0 victory for the defending champions.

5K Glow Run Raises Awareness for Healthy Living

The community-based 501 Run Club hosted its third annual 5K Glow Run on Saturday, October 4th, at Central Park in San Pedro Town. The event attracted 105 participants of all ages, competing in both male and female categories. Every runner who completed the 3.1-mile course was recognized, and the top three finishers in each division received trophies.

Team Colombia wins the 2025 Mundialito Championship

On Saturday, August 23rd, Team Colombia claimed victory in the 2025 Mundialito Football Championship, securing the top trophy of the competition. The finals took place at the Ambergris Stadium, hosted by the San Pedro Town Council Sports Committee, and featured several teams of children ages 6 to 13, who competed over the past two months. Its goal is to promote healthy recreational activity for children during the summer break on the island.

On Tuesday, May 20th, the San Pedro Town Sagebrush Church buzzed excitedly during the annual Belize District Festival of Arts. Organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology through the Institute of Creative Arts and supported by the San Pedro Town Council, the festival offers students a platform to showcase their skills in drama, dance, music, and various other artistic forms.

Softball action is back with the Co-ed Softball Tournament

n March 6th, the San Pedro Town Council's Sports Department launched its highly anticipated annual softball tournament at the Honorable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas Field). This event marks the beginning of an exciting season for local softball enthusiasts and is part of the council's ongoing efforts to promote sports and community engagement in San Pedro. The opening day featured four teams competing in friendly but spirited matches, showcasing local talent and promoting recreational activities.

Sharks FC are the Island League Champions

The Island League Football Tournament crowned a new champion at the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday, January 11th. The final match of the local tournament had both teams and their fans on edge, as the regulation 90 minutes were not enough to determine a winner. It took an additional 30 minutes of overtime and penalty kicks for Sharks FC to secure a hard-fought victory over Sea Bulls FC.

Newly renovated basketball court opens at Boca del Rio Beach Park

The basketball court at Boca del Rio Beach Park has been fully renovated, thanks to a partnership between Will Mitchell, RE/MAX Belize Real Estate, and the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC). This project has provided the island's sporting community with a brand-new basketball court, complete with new rims and bleachers, creating a safe and engaging environment for the island's youth.

This initiative began on October 9th with repairs to the concrete flooring. The comprehensive revitalization plan includes a new court design inspired by the Belizean flag and replacing two basketball rims. The goal is to create a safe and engaging environment for the youth of Ambergris Caye, promoting access to high-quality outdoor sports and encouraging positive recreational activities.
