Top players emerge during Island Football League’s sixth week

The Island Football League (IFL) is in week six of its season, with twelve teams competing for the championship. With only five more weeks left in the tournament, the race for the coveted Championship title has intensified. This weekend's matches concluded with seven players leading the league in scoring.

Mayor’s Co-Ed Softball Cup continues with fun games on Sundays

The second round of the Mayor’s Co-Ed Softball Cup occurred on Sunday, April 28th at 10AM at the Honourable Louis “Cuz” Sylvestre Sporting Arena. The tournament aims to promote softball and prepare athletes to compete on and off the island. Councilor Adaly Ayuso and her San Pedro Town Council Sports Committee team lead the competition.

The Mayor's CO-ED Softball Competition kicked off on Sunday, April 21st at 10AM at the Honorable Louis "Cuz" Sylvestre Sporting Arena, with young and senior softball athletes participating. Councilor Adaly Ayuso and the San Pedro Town Council Sports Committee organized the event.

Calling all football fans: The Island Football League starts 2024 season

The Island Football League (IFL) has returned with 12 teams competing for the championship. The first week of matches concluded with six top football clubs leading in the league's standings. These teams include Shark Shooters FC, Terror Squad FC, Conquerors FC, Sea Bulls FC, G Strikers FC, and Joker Futbol Club. The other teams in the competition, namely Black Sails FC, SPHS FC, Alaia FC, Sharks FC, Vince Assassins FC, and Ambergris Hope FC, have yet to secure a win.

Sports Expo offers a wide range of activities for island youth

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye is known for its sporting community, with great athletes often representing the island nationally and internationally. As such, the current San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) has taken initiatives to provide opportunities for future athletes to explore their skills. A sports expo held last weekend at Central Park saw booths offering the opportunity for children to sign up and be part of several activities after their school time.

San Pedro’s Central Park shines bright at the annual Christmas Tree lighting event

On Saturday, December 2nd, islanders were treated to Central Park’s yearly and cheerful Christmas Tree lighting event. Hosted by the San Pedro Town Council, the festivity brought the joy of the festive holidays under the theme ‘Illuminate the Island with Holiday Sparkle.’

501 Run Club hosts first 5K Glow Run

On Saturday, August 19th, San Pedro’s 501 Run Club hosted its first 5K (3.1 miles) Glow Run to celebrate its first anniversary and continue promoting a healthy lifestyle on the island. The activity organized by the community running club awarded the top three male and female runners, while all runners received a medal for their participation.

Football Academy launched in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye

On Sunday, February 19th, San Pedro Town saw the launch of the local football academy. The sports program registered 70 children, all participating in the official ceremony of the program at the Ambergris Stadium, where they received sporting merchandise and their official training kits.
