20 deserving islanders receive wheelchairs via the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye

The Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye, through a partnership with Chair The Love, distributed 20 new wheelchairs to some of the most deserving island residents. The generous donation coincided with the Christmas season of giving and saw the distribution of 250 wheelchairs nationwide.

San Pedro Lions Club to host 44th National Convention

The San Pedro Lions Club is proud to host the 44th Zone 59 Lions Club National Convention starting Friday, May 12th. The weekend will see a variety of social activities, workshops, and seminars, ending with a grand parade and a closing ceremony on Sunday, the 14th.

San Pedro continues raising Autism awareness

April is Autism Awareness Month across the country. Every year in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, a campaign is held to help the community understand and appreciate those living with autism spectrum disorder, a life-long developmental disorder. On Friday, April 28th, to further touch on the important topic, the San Pedro Town Council, in partnership with Autism Belize, hosted an Autism Let's Talk forum at the San Pedro Lions Den.

Creativity and Talent showcased at the SPDA’s Christmas Dance Show

Young dancers from the San Pedro Dance Academy (SPDA) showcased their skills during their Annual Christmas Dance Show. Held on Sunday, December 11th, at the San Pedro Lions Den, the anticipated show drew a large crowd of family and friends eager to cheer on the island’s young talent.

San Pedro Lions Club celebrate 47 years of service

On Saturday, December 3rd, the San Pedro Lions Club celebrated its 47th anniversary. The celebration included a gala at the Lions Den on Barrier Reef Drive with specially invited guests, who were recognized for their partnership with the island’s Lions Club over the past years. The extravaganza also saw many Lion members honored. The special event ended with a dinner and the live performance of San Pedro’s number one band, Rompe Raja!

San Pedro starts Township week promoting zero tolerance for the use of plastic and styrofoam

On Wednesday, November 23rd, Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez and Mayor Gualberto 'Wally' Nuñez and his team promoted using biodegradable products, such as groceries bags, at a presentation at the San Pedro Lions Den. The enforcement will see reusable bags available at the different establishments for around 50 cents. The populace and business sector are encouraged to make this their standard practice to avoid using plastic items and give back to the island town community, which turns 38 on Sunday, November 27th. The demonstration emphasized how hazardous plastic can be for fragile marine ecosystems like those around the island, thus, the importance of getting everyone on this campaign.

National MSME Roadshow ends in San Pedro with pop-up market

On Friday, October 28th, the National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Roadshow ended with a pop-up market in San Pedro Town. The project created by Prime Minister Honourable Dr. John Briceño reached the central municipalities across the country and was geared toward supporting businesses under the MSME category. The pop-up market at Central Park in San Pedro brought several companies from the island and the mainland showcasing various Belizean products.

Belize Mission Dental Project is back!

For 29 years, a team of dental specialists and volunteers from the United States have been visiting the country during Fall/October to provide services to those needing it on the island. The team also includes members stationed in other parts of the country focused on areas dealing with vision, medical screening, and hearing.
