Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny fundraiser a hopping success!
Thursday, April 4th, 2013
Last Saturday, March 30th the San Pedro Lions Club held their second annual Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny fund raiser. Starting before the 9am time scheduled to begin, (due to the enthusiastic guests who arrived early), the Lions Den was hopping with hungry and excited children along with their families. Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, sliced oranges and juice. Of course the real treat was the topping table where pancakes could be adorned with syrup, butter, chocolate syrup, jellies, sprinkles, marshmallows or shredded cheese. Some adventurous children opted to sample all of the toppings, leaving little sight of the smothered pancake underneath!
The guest of honor was the Easter Bunny, who took time out from his busy schedule to visit with the children and pose for photos. Many children were delighted to see the over-grown rabbit, while some turned shy and maybe even a tad apprehensive at the unusual sight. There were lots of fun activities to enjoy; with coloring pages and crayons set at all the tables, even the grown-ups crafted pretty pictures! Children had fun playing Pin the Tail on the Rabbit and Bobbing for Eggs while others competed in Jump Rope and the always entertaining Egg and Spoon game. Ms Melody and friend Amy decorated the children with colorful face paintings and a new activity, Coco Bunny’s had the children creatively transforming a coconut into a bunny!
According to the event organizer, SP Lion Tamara Sniffin, the fund raiser was a grand success. “We are thrilled that the Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny has been so well received. I think we were really prepared for the day and everything went off without a hitch. We undoubtedly raised more funds this second year, plus with the generous donation of food and supplies from our wonderful community we were able to keep our costs to a minimum. In the long run it is the residents of San Pedro who will benefit, as all of the proceeds earned go right back into our community.”
The San Pedro Lions would like to thank the following business and individuals for their generous support and donations: Madisco, Running W Meats, MASH, La Divina Providencia, Public’s Supermarket II, The Greenhouse, Cost-Less Supermarket, Save-On Supermarket, Miss Shelly at Bistro Mestizo, Al Masha Supermarket, Mermaid Supermarket, Super Buy South, Marina’s Store, Gecko Graphics, Rocks Supermarket, El Dorado Store, Kakaw Chocolate Boutique, Marie’s Fruit Stand, Debbie Spain, Kelly McGuire, Sandy from Texas, Yvonne Temsik AKA Nana, Melody Sanchez-Wolfe, Amy Oldham, Irma Palmer and Marilyn Hill. A special thanks also goes to the hard working SP Lions members and Leo’s who helped make the day a success, together we make great things happen!
