San Pedro Town Council activates Sargassum Response Plan

As the easterly winds start to blow over San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye, seasonal mats of Sargassum seaweed have begun to wash up on the island's shoreline. In response, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) has initiated a plan to address the current influx of this brown seaweed. On March 11th, they announced their initiative, which has already resulted in the removal of more than 20 truckloads of Sargassum following the recent influx.

A day to remember Belize’s National Heroes and Benefactors

March 9th is National Heroes and Benefactors Day in Belize. This year, the public and bank holiday was observed on Monday, March 10th, instead of Sunday. The day honors individuals who have significantly impacted our country's history, notably Baron Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss, whose contributions inspire discussions.

Groundbreaking ceremony held for Blue Economy Park in San Pedrito

On March 6th, the Ministry of Blue Economy and Disaster Risk Management held a groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming Blue Economy Park in the San Pedrito area. San Pedro Female Police Officers attend church service to welcome Women’s Month

San Pedro Town celebrated the worldwide recognition of women on March 2nd with a special mass at the San Pedro Roman Catholic church. March is recognized as Women's Month globally, and various activities are organized to honor and appreciate women's contributions to society. On the island, the female members of the San Pedro Police Formation and their commanders attended the church service, where other residents and community leaders joined them.

14 Tropic Air Employees Certified as Tour Guides

A class of pilots and staff from Tropic Air received their certificates after completing the National Tour Guide Training Program. A brief ceremony was held at the company’s corporate headquarters, during which representatives from the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and trainer Philip ‘Billy’ Leslie distributed certificates to the participants. Fourteen department staff members undertook the course and can now apply for their Tour Guide licenses.

Island Donors Squad starts the month of March with a blood drive

On Saturday, March 1st, a blood drive organized by the Island Donors Squad (IDS) in collaboration with the Ambergris Hope Hospital and volunteers from the Washington University of Health and Science (WUHS) collected approximately 11 pints of blood.
