This annual event features a rich tapestry of culinary delights, cultural presentations, and entertainment in honor of the Independence Day celebrations of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

In Belize, the month of September is a time of vibrant celebration honoring two important events in the nation's history. This year's theme, "A Nation Proud and Free: Belize @ 43," commemorates the 226th anniversary of the Battle of St. George’s Caye Day and the 43rd anniversary of Belize’s Independence. The Battle of St. George’s Caye Day is celebrated on September 10th and honors the efforts of the Baymen and slaves who repelled a Spanish invasion.

The festivities started with flag-raising ceremonies across the county for National Flag Day. On Sunday, September 1st, at 6AM, community members, local authorities, and proud Belizeans gathered at Central Park for the ceremonial event opening the September Celebrations. As the first rays of sunlight lit up the park, voices sang the national anthem as the Belizean flag rose into the sky.

On Tuesday, August 27th, the grand finale of News 5 Live's popular show, KTV The Remix Season Six, took place at the Bliss Centre Performing Arts in Belize City. Chelsea Castro, a 19-year-old from Ambergris Caye, emerged as the ultimate winner, claiming a whopping $10,000 cash prize. The electrifying announcement captivated the audience, marking the exciting conclusion of a spectacular season.

Chelsy Castro, a proud representative of Ambergris Caye, is currently competing in the sixth season of the highly acclaimed KTV Remix Karaoke Competition. The event started on June 25th and will end on August 27th. The competition airs live every Tuesday at 8PM on Channel 5. Castro has showcased her extraordinary talent and vocal prowess in the contest.

San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, was the place to be over the weekend of Saturday, July 27th through the 28th, for the third edition of the Belize International Music and Food Festival (BIMFF). The event took place at the Honorable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas) and was well attended. It featured two days of entertainment and included some of the best Belizean food and performances by local and international artists. Visiting headliners included Collie Buddz, Shenseea, and world-renowned singer Prince Royce.

San Pedro Town was again well represented at the Belize Band Fest 2024 held in Benque Viejo Del Carmen in the Cayo District on Saturday, July 20th. This year, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) and San Pedro Roman Catholic (RC) Primary School brought home two of the top three trophies. They made history with SPHS winning first place and the RC Primary School securing third place in the annual event that sees the best drum and marching bands from the country and abroad.

The spiny lobster season in Belize has been open since July 1st. To celebrate, San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye hosted a two-week-long celebration that ended on Saturday, July 13th, with a grand Lobster Fest Block Party. The block party was the finale of the 13-day Lobster Crawl, which featured daily lobster-themed events at various venues across San Pedro. The anticipated event occurred at the Honorable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Arena (Saca Chispas Field), which featured beautifully decorated restaurant booths offering the best lobster dishes and unique cocktails. As is customary, the food and drink competition was the highlight of the lobster festival, which drew thousands of tourists and locals for an evening of food, drinks, lobster education, and live performances.
