HPV Test Available at Public Health Facilities Countrywide
On November 17, 2022, on the second anniversary of the launch of the Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer as a Public Health Problem by the World Health Organization, the Ministry of Health & Wellness announces that the human papillomavirus (HPV) test is now available at its public health facilities countrywide.

Caye Caulker gets new health center next week, ground-breaking for San Pedro hospital soon
On Monday, November 21st, the newly built Caye Caulker health center is to be inaugurated, providing Hicaqueños with a much-needed equipped medical facility. Minister of Health and Wellness, Honourable Kevin Bernard, confirmed the official opening of the new clinic and shared that this is the commitment of his government to provide the Cayes with essential health services. Next is the upcoming ground-breaking for the hospital in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Vaccine Drive to take place in San Pedro schools
The Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II personnel are currently conducting a familiarization campaign across the island's schools regarding vaccination. One of the vaccines is the Human Papilloma Virus injection, which according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), is given to Standard 4 students and to Standard 5 and 6 students who may not have received the vaccine in 2020, 2021, or this year. The vaccination campaign will roll out next week across all schools on the island.

The Government and Ministries of Belize in collaboration with PAHO/WHO Belize and the European Union launch the National One Health Platform for the country
To improve preparedness, response, and increase surveillance capabilities, all sectors and disciplines responsible for health came together to develop a multisectoral and collaborative approach. In collaboration with the Government of Belize and other ministries, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) along with funding support from the European Union (EU) launched the National One Health Platform.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness, through its Dental Department, invites the public to join in celebrating Dental Health Week from October 23 to 29, 2022, under the theme “Good Oral Health is the Best Wealth.” This week will be focused on the continued emphasis on the importance of regular and proper brushing of teeth to reduce unnecessary dental expenses and visits as well as sick leave.

Belize Mission Dental Project is back!
For 29 years, a team of dental specialists and volunteers from the United States have been visiting the country during Fall/October to provide services to those needing it on the island. The team also includes members stationed in other parts of the country focused on areas dealing with vision, medical screening, and hearing.
