Team Belize powerlifters medal at North American Regional Powerlifting Championship

The 2024 North American Regional Powerlifting Championship, known as NAPF, occurred in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. Eight athletes from Belize proudly represented their country and returned home with medals. One of the athletes, Mary Gonzalez-Rodriguez from San Pedro Town, competed in the Women's Masters 1 Division and won a bronze medal for Belize.

Shark Shooters and Tropical Strikers to compete in Legends Over 35 Finals

The Legends Over 35 Cup semifinal matches, held on Friday, August 9th, at Ambergris Stadium, were a display of intense competition. The four participating teams gave their all in a night of fierce sportsmanship. Ultimately, Shark Shooters and Tropical Strikers emerged victorious in their matches and will now face off for the coveted Legends Over 35 Championship title.

San Pedro Pirates scores first big win in PLB’s Opening Season

In week two of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) opening season, San Pedro Pirates Football Club won 4-0 against the Belmopan Bandits. The match was an away game on Sunday, April 11th, held at the Football Federation of Belize Stadium in the capital city of Belmopan. The island squad is now gearing up to host Verdes at the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday, August 17. The game starts at 7:30PM.

Terror Squad FC heading to the NAIC’s finals

San Pedro’s Terror Squad Football Club (FC) is one of the top teams that has secured its place in the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship’s (NAIC) finals. The other team advancing to the championship is EZ Griga Conquerors from Dangriga Town. The NAIC’s finals will include a home-and-away series of games leading up to the grand championship match.

2024 Paris Olympics comes to a close; Belizeans Shaun Gill competes and Simone Biles medals

The 2024 Paris Olympics concluded on Sunday, August 11th, with athletes from around the world showcasing their talents at the international sporting event. This year, 184 countries were represented in the two-week competition between July 26th and August 11th. A single athlete from Belize, Shawn Gill, an industrial engineering major at A&M-Kingsville, finished sixth in the men's 100-meter preliminary heat with a time of 11.17 seconds on Saturday, August 3rd, at the Stade de France.

Jesus ‘Levi’ Contreras tops 10K run in Belmopan City

Island runner Jesus "Levi" Contreras, known as the "Yellow Flash of Belize," recently won a 10K race in the Capital City of Belmopan. The event took place on August 3rd and attracted runners from across the country and abroad. Contreras finished the race at 34:47, securing first place in the competition.

San Pedro Pirates draw against Port Loyola in PLB’s first game

The San Pedro Pirates Football Club have reentered the Premier League of Belize (PLB) and are competing after dropping out last season. On Sunday, August 4th, the team traveled to Belize City to play against the current champions of the PLB Closing Season, Port Loyola FC. Despite their fresh start, the island's premier football team, displaying resilience and determination, did not secure a victory. The final score was a hard-fought 0-0 against Port Loyola.

ALG Warriors win 2024 Belikin Stout 8-Ball Tournament, San Pedro team secures Sub-Champion Title

The ALG Warriors from the Corozal District emerged as the winners of the 2024 Belikin Stout 8 Ball National Tournament on Sunday, August 4th. Team One Shot, One Kill from San Pedro secured second place, while Karz Shooters from the Toledo District settled for third place in the annual billiards competition.
