San Pedro Pirates tops PLB standing after 6-0 victory over Belmopan Bandits

After their third consecutive victory on Saturday, January 28th, the San Pedro Pirates are leading the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season with nine points. The island men travelled to the Capital City of Belmopan, where they crushed Team Belmopan Bandits 6-0 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

On Saturday, January 21st, islanders flocked to the Ambergris Stadium to support their team, the San Pedro Pirates, as they faced Wagiya SC from Dangriga Town. Pirates’ fans cheered on as the island team left body and soul on the pitch before emerging victorious with a 4-2 win in their second game of the Closing Season of the Premier League of Belize (PLB).

The island's premier football team, the San Pedro Pirates, started the Premier League of Belize's (PLB) Closing Season with a 2-0 win against Progresso Football Club. This is a similar score the island boys netted against Wagiya SC at the beginning of PLB's Opening Season in August 2022.

The Premier League of Belize’s (PLB) Closing Season championship starts on Saturday, January 14th, and the island’s elite football team San Pedro Pirates is preparing for their first game. The island premier league will face Progresso FC at the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday at 7:30PM.

MoECST Signs MOU with FFB and BBF

The MoECST, through the signing of these memorandums, has committed to supporting student-athletes by providing education stipends to assist with living and tuition expenses. The FFB identified 10 student-athletes studying abroad to receive a BZ$600 monthly stipend to assist with living expenses, and 39 student-athletes have been identified by the BBF to receive a tuition scholarship up to the baccalaureate level.

Altitude FC is PLB’s opening-season champion

After some delays, the Opening Season championship in the Premier League of Belize (PLB) took place on Sunday, December 11th, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium between Altitude FC and Verdes FC. The anticipated final match in the season saw fans from the San Ignacio Town, Cayo, and Independence, Stann Creek areas flocking to the stadium in the nation’s capital of Belmopan, where after an intense penalty-kick shootout, Altitude emerged as the winner of the 2022-2023 PLB championship.

San Pedro athletes shine in annual End of the World Marathon in Placencia

The island delegation included Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon, Marisa Murphy Guerrero, Kian Trejo, Chelsea Muñoz, Mary Shaw, and Japanese kitchen master Toshiya Tsujimoto, who ran his first half marathon. The San Pedro athletes traveled to the southern municipality in the Stann Creek District a day before to be ready for the anticipated event set for Sunday at 5:30AM.

San Pedro Pirates thank their fans for their support during the PLB’s Opening Season

The island’s premier football team, the San Pedro Pirates fell short against Verdes on Sunday, November 20th, missing the opportunity to advance to the finals in the Premier League of Belize’s (PLB) Opening Season. The island team acknowledged their fans’ support throughout the tournament and expects a strong comeback in the Closing Season set to start early in 2023.
