San Pedro’s Alysha Reymundo heads to UNCAF tournament with U-15 Belize Female National Team
San Pedrana Alysha Reymundo is representing the island and the country as part of the Under-15 national football team traveling to San Jose, Costa Rica, competing in the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) under the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)FORWARD U-15 championship. The team left on Thursday, June 2nd, traveling by road to Guatemala and then flying on Friday to Costa Rica.

Varsity College Missionaries participate in sports camp held in San Pedro
As the school year winds down, sports camps begin to engage young kids and students in San Pedro Town. From May 18th to the 21st, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) partnered with Varsity College Missionaries and the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church to host a sports camp held at the Ambergris Stadium and the Angel Nuñez Auditorium.

San Pedro Pirates grab third place at FFB’s Top League closing season
The island’s major football team, San Pedro Pirates, ended in third place in the closing season of the Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) Top League, following their 6-0 victory over Garden City. In second place and sub-champions of the competition was team Altitude from Stann Creek District, while team Verdes from the Cayo District emerged as champions, finishing the championship undefeated.

On Saturday, April 23rd, the San Pedro Pirates female team could not secure a home victory after hosting Sagitun Girlz. Although the island girls did their best to play on the pitch, the visiting team managed to walk away with a 4-2 win.

Lady Jaguars end world cup qualifier with 3-0 victory against Barbados; not enough to reach the women’s world cup
The Belize women’s national football team wrapped up their participation in the FIFA Women World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, April 12th, with a 3-0 victory over Barbados. With this win, Belize grabbed third place in Group D, followed by Panama and El Salvador. However, the Lady Jaguars did not advance to the next competition stage for a ticket to the women’s world cup in Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2023.

With a 1-1 draw against Aruba, the Belize Women’s National Football team has gained 1 point in its quest for the Women’s World Cup Qualifier. The Lady Jaguars faced Aruba at home inside the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Stadium in the capital city of Belmopan on Wednesday, April 6th.
