Team Germany wins the 2024 Mundialito Tournament

On Thursday, September 19th, Team Germany won their final match in the 2024 Mundialito Football Championship and earned the top trophy of the tournament. The final game day was held at the Ambergris Stadium and hosted by the San Pedro Town Council Sports. The tournament featured seven teams of children aged 6 to 13, who competed in a series of matches over the past three months. The tournament aims to promote healthy recreational activity for children during the summer break. The participating teams included Belize, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, France, Canada, and Germany this year.

Teams Germany and Belize to compete for Mundialito Championship

On Friday, September 13th, the Mundialito Football Tournament's second and final semi-final round was held at 5PM at the Ambergris Stadium. Four teams competed: Germany, Argentina, Belize, and Brazil. The matches were intense as the young football players strove to score goals and earn points for a chance to compete in the ultimate showdown. With the semi-finals over, the Championship match is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th. The first game determines the third-place winner, and the second game will be anticipated finals.

Young footballers showcase skills in first leg of Mundialito Semifinals

On Sunday, September 8th, the first leg of the Mundialito Football Tournament’s semifinal games took place at the Ambergris Stadium. Four teams, Belize, Brazil, Germany, and Argentina competed to secure a final spot. The matches were intense as the young football players strove to score goals and earn points for a chance to compete in the ultimate showdown. The last leg of the semifinals will take place on Friday, September 13th, at 4:30PM, with three scheduled matches. This will determine who will advance to the grand finale, where the season's champion will be determined later this month.

San Pedro Town Council Sports hosts Track and Field competition

On Saturday, September 7th, the San Pedro Town Council Sports hosted a track and field competition at the Ambergris Stadium for the first time. The races were held in the categories of Under-8 and Under-10, 10-12, 13-14, and 15-17, for both males and females. At the end of the activity, the top winners received medals, and the rest of the runners were acknowledged for their participation.

San Pedro Town Council Sports opens Softball, Track and Field Academies

The San Pedro Town Council Sports (SPTCS) continues to promote sports on the island through its different sports academies geared at the island’s youth. The softball academy started on Saturday, August 24th, with the track and field academy set to begin on Saturday, September 7th. These two additional sports academies and the SPTCS’s football academy, which began earlier this year in February, provide exciting opportunities for children to develop their skills and passion for sports. The program aims to include children in positive events and strengthen family bonds through sporting initiatives.

Shark Shooters champions of the 2024 Legends Over 35 Cup

On Sunday, August 18th, the Ambergris Stadium hosted the Legends Over 35 Cup finals between Shark Shooters and Tropical Strikers. The last match in this local tournament saw the best of both teams, with Tropical Strikers taking an initial lead. However, at the end of the game, the Shark Shooters proved to be the strongest squad and took home the championship with a solid final game score of 6-2.

U15 and U17 Mundialito Champions make their mark in the youth football tournament

The exciting summer Mundialito Under-15 (U15) and Under-17 (U17) Tournament season concluded on Thursday, August 1st, at the Ambergris Stadium with the highly anticipated championship matches. The tournament provided male and female players a platform to showcase their skills across three engaging segments. The event started with the U17 match featuring an intense showdown between Argentina and England, followed by an exhilarating U15 battle between England and Mexico. The evening concluded with a fiercely contested female match between Team Hurricane and No Limits. Following the matches, an unforgettable award ceremony celebrated the outstanding performances of the players, with trophies and medals presented to the best talents.

San Pedro’s Ada Cordova takes coach training in FFB

Well-known instructor and trainer Ada Abagail Cordova, a coach for male and female football players in the age 7-16 age range, underwent training in Belmopan at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) from July 15th through July 19th. The diploma course is formulated to strengthen techniques and develop expertise for coaches, focusing on national playing styles, game analysis, session planning, game model development, and coaching tips for improving game strategies and developing skills.
