Football Action Continues as League Enters Crucial Weeks

Seabulls FC continues to top the Island League Football Tournament for another week, holding onto first place with 32 points. Sharks FC, however, couldn’t keep its second-place spot and dropped to fifth. Joker FC moved up to second, with Boca Bombers in third.

Team RE/MAX Leads Softball Tournament

After two weeks of softball action, Team RE/MAX is at the top of the tournament standings. The games are held every Sunday at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas Field), where residents and visitors gather as early as 10AM to cheer for their favorite teams. This season features five teams competing, showcasing local talent and promoting recreational sports on the island.

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks secured another victory during the second week of the National Elite Basketball League (NEBL), earning the top spot in the league standings. The Orange Walk Running Rebels currently sit in second place, followed by the Western Ballaz in third.

Island Footballers Alysha Reymundo and Zoany Diaz Contribute to BHS’ National Championship

San Pedro footballers Alysha Reymundo and Zoany Diaz played a key role in helping the Belize High School (BHS) of Agriculture Stingers win the 2026–2027 National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) Girls Football Championship. The national tournament was held on February 20th and 21st in Belize City, and BHS emerged victorious after a series of competitive matches.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks Net First Win of NEBL Season

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks opened their National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) season with a strong statement victory on February 20th, defeating the Cayo Western Ballaz 91-85 at the Belize Civic Center in Belize City. The win marked an impressive start for the island’s premier basketball team against one of the league’s traditionally competitive squads.

New Horizon SDA and San Pedro Roman Catholic School Crowned Zone 5 Football Champions

During the National Sports Council Zone 5 Primary School Football Tournament, held from February 9th to 19th at the Ambergris Stadium, New Horizon Seventh Day Adventist School (NHSDA) captured the male championship title, while San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) secured the female championship. The tournament featured male and female teams from SPRCS, Holy Cross Anglican School (HCAS), NHSDA, Caye Caulker Roman Catholic School (CCRCS), Ambergris Caye Elementary School (ACES), and Isla Bonita Elementary School (IBES). Over six days of competition, the schools competed in a round-robin format, culminating in the championship finals on February 19th.

Sharks Cup Closing Season Begins

The Sharks Cup Closing Season 2026 officially opened on Sunday, February 22nd, at 4PM inside the Angel Nuñez Auditorium at San Pedro High School. Organized by the San Pedro Volleyball Association, the tournament features youth categories, including U13 co-ed, U15 girls, and U15 boys, as well as senior female, male, and co-ed divisions. Two courts were set up to allow simultaneous matches throughout the afternoon.

Annual San Pedro Softball Tournament Returns

The San Pedro Town Council Sports officially launched its highly anticipated annual softball tournament on Sunday, February 22nd, at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex. The tournament, featuring weekly Sunday games, opened with two competitive matchups among Marlins, RE/MAX, Crushers, and San Pedro High School (SPHS) Sharks.

125 Young Athletes Join San Pedro Football Academy 2026

The San Pedro Football Academy officially opened its 2026 season on Saturday, February 21st, at 9AM at the Ambergris Stadium, marking its fourth consecutive year of youth football development on Ambergris Caye. This year, the academy welcomed 125 children, more than double the number enrolled when the program launched.

Island Runners Participate in First Valentine’s Mixed 5K Relay

On Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th, San Pedro Town hosted its first mixed-team 5K relay run, drawing 25 teams of two. The event began at Central Park at 5:30AM and was a collaboration between the San Pedro Town Council Sports, the 501 Run Club, and KI KI Athletics, a local small business owned by Kian Trejo.
